For more than three centuries, young children from the corsair city dressed in military garb have been keeping up tradition and history.

After the harvest, when the winemaking work was done, the people would transport barrels of wine onto the quays for the lesteurs to load onto the wagons leaving for Toulon, Marseille and Nice.
For the port of Saint Tropez, the preparation of the barrels containing the wine produce was of great importance and required much attention.
These barrels were loaded onto the wagons for transportation to distribution centres.

It is thought that the Greeks or the Etruscans first introduced vines to the Provence region, around 600BC. Unless, that is, they were already there...
